CCHS Speech & Debate enjoying winning season


The Central Catholic Speech and Debate Team has been hitting the tournament circuit hard and yielding some impressive results during their regular season. 
 
Jekhia Ballard placed 2nd at Wadsworth and 1st at Wooster (the largest regular season tournament in the state of Ohio), Hoover, and Norton. She has earned 4 bids to the state tournament and is now fully qualified to compete at the state tournament in March!
 
Conner Belden took second place overall at Glenoak and earned 2nd place novice at Highland, 3rd at Tusky Valley, and 1st place novice at Copley. 
 
Morgan Knight also has earned a bid to the state tournament in Congressional Debate. 
 
Tim Short has earned 5 bids to the State tournament which have included 1st place finishes at McKinley, New Philadelphia, and Norton. Tim is now fully qualified to compete at the state tournament. 
 
Christian Vannan took 9th place at the Norton in Congressional Debate. 
 
Marie Weller placed 7th overall in the Declamation category at the Tusky Valley, Highland, and Norton tournaments and earned top novice honors. 
 
The team’s post-season begins today, Saturday, February 4th. Good luck to the rest of the team as they compete this weekend at the OHSDA Little District Tournament to join Tim and Jekhia at the state tournament!
