Each year, our Diocese recognizes outstanding teachers from our Catholic schools with a Golden Apple Award. Congratulations to Mrs. Diana Fisher, St. Michael School, Mr. Jim Sicker, Central Catholic High School, and Mrs. Ally Alexsonshk, Regina Coeli School, who have been awarded 2020 Golden Apple Awards by the Diocese of Youngstown! Thank you for all that you do!
Mrs. Diana Fisher, St. Michael School
This is current year is Mrs. Fisher's third year at St. Michael School. Previously, she taught at Our Lady of Peace for seven years, and prior OLOP, she taught at St. Paul School for nine years. This is her 19th year in the Diocese of Youngstown. Next year, Mrs. Fisher will be celebrating two decades teaching in Catholic education.
Mr. Jim Sicker, Central Catholic High School
Mr. Sicker is an alumnus of the CCHS class of 1980. He has a Bachelor's degree in Education and a Masters degree in Biology from Kent State University. He has been a part of the CCHS staff since 1989, and the science department chair since 1991. He currently teaches Zoology, Environmental Science, Honors Freshman Biology, and AP Biology.
Mrs. Ally Alexsonshk, Regina Coeli School
Mrs. Alexsonshk holds a B.S. in Middle Childhood Education (grade 4-9) from Ohio University. She began her teaching career in 2014 and and now is teaching fourth grade at Regina Coeli School. Mrs. Alexsonshk chose to teach in a Catholic school because she attended a Catholic school and has a strong desire to help children develop and grow in their faith as they grow in love and service to their family, classmates, school and church communities. Her favorite subjects to teach are Religion and Social Studies. Mrs. Alexsonshk also helps with the Kids Who Care Service Club. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, photography, reading, and enjoying the outdoors.
