St. Paul Catholic School presents a Musical that Flies, “Peter Pan, Jr.”

St. Paul Catholic School presents a Musical that Flies, “Peter Pan, Jr.”

St. Paul Catholic School, North Canton, is thrilled to announce its return to the big stage after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19 safety concerns. On Thursday, May 5, and Friday, May 6, St. Paul Theatre Company will proudly present “Peter Pan, Jr.” at the Canton Palace Theatre.

The elementary Catholic school boasts an impressive theatre program, with more than a third of its student body participating in its theatre productions each year! Each year the school’s performing arts program continues to grow. St. Paul offers an array of arts programs for students including music, band, choir, visual arts, and performing arts.

“Peter Pan, Jr.” has a cast of more than 50 students, in 4th to 8th grade. The musical follows a journey to Neverland, fights with pirates, and finding of new friends along the way. The professional flight company, Flying by Troy, has been hired to incorporate “flight” into each of the performances. This is a rare and exciting endeavor for any drama production and St. Paul is thrilled to bring this special touch to the show. “Peter Pan, Jr.” is being directed by Lisa Knight and Taylor Bond with choreography by Molly Weidig.

Join St. Paul School at the historic Canton Palace Theatre for “Peter Pan, Jr.” on Thursday, May 5, and Friday, May 6, at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the doors or online prior to the show date at https://buy.tututix.com/stpaulschool.

Each year, St. Paul students stage two musical productions, providing opportunities for students in grades 1-8 to participate. The Little Troupe Theater Program, which brings grades 1 to 4 to the stage and 6 and 7-grade students to student director roles, is held in the fall and performed on the St. Paul School stage. The Theatre Company is for grades 3 to 8 students and is performed each spring on professional stages in the Stark County area. Theatre is a “family affair” at SPS, families are fully involved with the performance, sets, costumes, and props. Past performances include, "101 Dalmatians," "Willy Wonka," "Little Mermaid,"  "Seussical Jr.," "Annie, Jr.," "Mary Poppins, Jr.," "Willy Wonka Kids," "Aladdin Kids," and "The Lion King, Jr."
